Carol Priest's creation deeply relies on our ability to continue to source natural ingredients of exceptional and unique quality. The extreme care we take in choosing and preserving the quality of our ingredients is a core part of our heritage that sets us apart.
We meticulously source the finest botanicals from New Zealand and across the globe, ensuring that our practices align with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At the core of our commitment lies a dedication to regenerative agriculture—a system that enriches soils, boosts biodiversity, enhances ecosystems, and uplifts farmers' livelihoods. This is why we prioritise certified organic ingredients wherever possible.
Our ingredient selection process starts with an in-depth assessment of potential impacts on human welfare, animal well-being, and natural ecosystems. We evaluate and compare ingredients from various suppliers, seeking the best therapeutic benefits while maintaining our high standards for purity. Our ingredients are also assessed by BioGro, to ensure their purity, sustainability and organic status. This dedication guarantees that our ingredients are inherently pure, gentle, and beneficial for your skin.
From the soil where our ingredients are grown to the hands of our consumers, we ensure that every step of our production process meets the highest organic standards.
For effective therapeutic use, it is crucial that only pure essential oils are used. That is, natural plant essences which have been extracted by steam distillation, solvent extraction, expression, maceration or enfleurage. No matter how charming the aroma may be, reconstituted products or chemical copies of natural essences (often listed as Parfum) simply do not work for medicinal purposes.
However, a large variety of so-called essential oil products have been devised to meet the demand of an increased market and give the uniformity that nature cannot provide. In law, all these products come under the turn on the heading of essential oils, which can be confusing to the inexperience buyer. Reconstitutions, nature. identicals , isolates perfume, compounds, and aromas...
apart from the range of products that have been advised to take the place of essential oils in perfumery there are essential oils which one mix with others mimic the aroma of the essential oil whose name they carry. For example, steam distilled rose essential oil (rose otto) is very expensive and so rose geramium and -- are combined to create the aroma of rose. This is all very well if perfumery is your concern, but no good at all if the rose oil is used for a therapeutic purpose. Unscrupulous suppliers will also dilute a pure essential oil in a carrier base and pass that off as pure nature essence.
